NCMS Leadership College: A Program of the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation

Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.

~ John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963)

The North Carolina Medical Society Leadership College was established in 2002 with the goal of identifying individuals with leadership potential and helping them hone their skills to become effective leaders of the future. Since its inception, the Leadership College has succeeded in accomplishing its goal of creating a pool of qualified leaders to speak on behalf of patients and the health care profession in North Carolina. To date, the program has graduated 97 scholars, with five having served on NCMS and Foundation Boards, 64 on NCMS Committees or Task Forces, and 65 as officers in their county or specialty societies. Many have also participated as representatives to the NCMS House of Delegates and as Doctors of the Day at the North Carolina state legislature. Alumni also continue to stay involved with the Leadership College by serving as mentors to other scholars, sharing ideas with fellow alumni, and by participating in program planning.
